20 journal prompts for self discovery and reflection

Do you want to get to know yourself better? Want to start journalling? Don’t know where to start? It can be hard to reflect on yourself, to come up with things to write about and reflect on without it being the mundane daily experiences you see depicted in cheesy teen shows. Recently, I’ve been thinking a lot, and despite blogging on two different blog sites there’s still a lot in my head and some of it I’m not ready to share with the world yet. Today, I’m going to share with you 20 journal prompts for self discovery and reflection that I’ve asked myself recently.

  • my favourite place in the world and why?
  • what do I love about who I am as a person?
  • what could I do better as a person?
  • things I wish I could say aloud and why I don’t say those things aloud?
  • where do I want to be in 5 years?
  • what do I need to be happy?
  • what do I believe in?
  • what am I passionate about?
  • what makes me unhappy in my life? why? can I change that?
  • my favourite memory and how it makes me feel
  • my least favourite memory and how it makes me feel
  • the saddest moment in my life
  • the happiest moment in my life
  • something I wish I’d appreciated more
  • something I wish I knew when I was a teenager
  • what 3 things am I grateful for this week?
  • what made me smile today?
  • what does growing older mean?
  • what is my purpose in life?
  • do I prefer giving or receiving gifts? why?
